ABOUT George Handley, RRT
George Handley has been a Registered Respiratory Therapist since 1998. He has worked at Foothills Hospital in the ICU and in ER. His career led him to Rockyview Hospital and then to the Peter Lougheed Hospital. It was during his time here that he became a Supervisor for the Respiratory Therapy Department. The next step in his career took him to research at the Foothills Hospital looking at the effects of hypothermia on traumatic brain injury. After this phase of his respiratory career he fell into the world of sleep. George found a passion for treating sleep apnea. It was in 2008 that he started Healthy Heart Sleep Company. As he will sometime be heard saying “a great day starts with a great night” and it can be so true. He loves to see the positive change in people who have for so long suffered from poor sleep. George is once again involved in the world of research, this time of course in the area of sleep apnea. He loves the fact that research may answer a question but then more questions are formed in the never ending search for knowledge and understanding.
When he is away from the office George loves family time with his wife and their son. During the summer months you can find them in a campground somewhere in the mountains. George is quite active playing squash and working out with his personal trainer.
